Over-indulgence - A Detox

March 31st, 2008

South Africa offers exceptional, luxury health spa and hydro vacation opportunities.  The perfect way to spoil yourself is an African health safari, spending a few days resting and relaxing at the health spa of your choice. Treat yourself to the health and luxury you deserve, make those daily pressures fade to nothing…

The recent long weekend had me over indulge, to be truthful whenever it is weekend and I am alone I over indulge so whilst searching for a suitable spa I was also interested on what was on offer to detox the body.  I need something intense.

I discovered what sounded like the perfect fit, the Body Wrap In this detox body treatment, your body will be covered in a body mask made of ingredients such as seaweed, mud, cream or lotion, algae (depending on the type of wrap you are going for). The wrap will be left on for about 20 minutes, and will be rinsed off, usually under a Vinchy shower, leaving your skin feeling and looking rejuvenated and soft. This treatment also works in improving your blood circulation.

Wonder if you are pink and verimpeld or pink and glowing… have to save up and try it soon!

The Options…

March 26th, 2008

We do not often realise the difference of a health spa and a health farm.

Health spas are predominantly day treatments, where as health farms are the stay over, intense focussed treatment. Where you may have an extended programme worked out for you according to your needs.  Whether you wish only to do a detox of the entire body or flush some fat off the body, is your decision. The health farm normally helps with emotional issues as well and often has different forms of treatments over an extended period; you can make a holiday of it.

A health spa is instant gratification and if done often would be just as healing in the long term as booking into a health farm for a few weeks at a time.

What ever your choice of natural health or beauty is, I am going to search for the best offers, treatments and hideaways and share them with you.

Educating Me!

March 15th, 2008

I want to go for all types of pampering but being an idiot with very little knowledge of what is what in the world of spa treatments I have decided to research the various treatments on offer.

The first interesting treatment I discovered on offer was the salt glow also known as a salt scrub or sea salt scrub: seems to be a popular treatment for exfoliating your skin. In the process, your outmost dead skin cells, which make the skin look dull, are removed. Because the salt used is combined with rich oils and other secret creative ingredients that a spa can choose to use, your skin will be left hydrated, giving it an instant glow. The treatment is followed by an application of fragrant lotion that leaves your skin looking and smelling alluring.

As a natural healer using salt for all kinds of ailments is not new to me, when you have had an operation, or given natural birth or you have insect bites, bathing in salt cures the areas faster than your normal cleansing would.  Please do not stop using the prescribed disinfectants or ointments, just add this to your healing ritual and you will be very happy with the results. You will also notice fewer infections when adding salt to your regime after an operation or natural birth.

Being Pampered

Health spas

Spas in South Africa have taken off vigorously! You can really choose your exact type of treatment, most sound exhilarating and alien to me.

Indian head massage sounds sinister to the layman.  I have conjured up many different ideas of how some Indian-speaking person manipulates my head and screws it around to feel good.  I know it is probably a feel good massage but for now I leave my head massage up to the hairdresser.

Hot stone massage had me sit up straight for most of the day.  I am unsure what the stones are and why they would want to place them along you spine cooking your spinal fluids.

Then of course you have a few African offers side by side with the Swedish and sports massage. Shiatsu and Qigong massages are not as readily available but you may have an acid bath or a mud bath to sooth something.

The friends that do visit the spas on a regular basis promise me their lives would not be worthwhile without these special treatments.
